Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Awards

Rite-Solutions has achieved significant success in the pursuit of winning highly-competitive Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) awards.  Two of which are described below.   One is now in Phase II and the other recently was awarded funding for Phase III.

Integrated Communications Systems – Next (ICS-Next)

Existing submarine audio communications had limited functionality, unsatisfactory reliability and poor usability.  They also required user training and created inefficient “Islands of Information.”  Rite-Solutions received a Phase I SBIR from NAVSEA PMS425 to address these deficiencies.  Leveraging modern phone technology, Rite-Solutions developed a robust and reliable system driven architecture providing improved functionality while improving reliability, maintainability and lowering all phases of cost.  Our Phase I SBIR entered Phase II funded by NAVSEA PMS450 to continue the pursuit of providing all shipboard crew seamless access to communications tools providing critical information needed for the efficient execution of all crew roles.

Combat System of the Future (CSoF)

CSoF is a Command Team Decision Support tool in an integrated framework to optimize Command and Control Space, CONOPS, and shipboard arrangements.  CSoF has an intuitive, mental model-based user interface design to provide decision makers only what information is needed, when needed.  Using a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), CSoF synthesizes key interdependencies impacting mission effectiveness.  Our Phase I SBIR entered Phase II in 2007 and in 2010 we were awarded a $73M Phase III.  CSoF has been demonstrated to numerous high-level uniformed and civilian personnel and had generated a great deal of excitement in the community.
